FAQ about the Dolls..
Are the dolls suitable for children?
As the dolls’ features are printed, they are suitable for children – however, we do not take any responsibility for them once embellishments are attached. If you intend to make the doll for a child, please consider the age of the child and their suitability when deciding which embellishments to add, as young children can choke on buttons.
Do I have to hand sew the dolls?
Not at all; we’ve designed the dolls so that they can be machine sewn, but if you prefer to do things the old fashioned way, you can of course hand sew them – but if you’re itching to get your doll made, you’ll find it quick and easy to pop them on the sewing machine. The embellishments, as always, would probably be best hand sewn on, or you could always use fabric glue!
I’m missing part of the kit! What do I do?
Don’t worry! As our dolls are hand packed by real humans, unfortunately there is the possibility of very occasional oversights – please accept our sincere apologies, and contact caroline@thedollcollective.co.uk so we can send you out the missing part straight away.
I’m really pleased with my doll and the back story I’ve created for her – is there somewhere I can share images and details?
Yes please – we’re really excited about seeing how you style your dolls, where you take them, and who they become! Tag your pictures on twitter and Instagram with @(intsagram address) and use the hashtag #thedollcollective and the name of your doll, upload them to our facebook page or email them to halloffame@thedollcollective.co.uk and we’ll add them to our gallery. Each month we’ll choose our favourite, and the lucky doll will receive an exclusive discount code to use on www.thedollcollective.co.uk!
I love the dress pattern – do you make them for humans?
Our parent company, Sew La Di Da Vintage, is an independent pattern company specialising in vintage inspired designs cut to fit and flatter the modern body. All of our patterns are sized to the UK high street, so if you get inspired by our classic shapes and fancy adding a touch of vintage glamour to your home sewing repertoire, it couldn’t be easier to find and make the right pattern for you! And if you’re not used to making full-size garments, why not join us for a workshop at our studio in Lyme Regis, and make your dress is two days?
I’ve got some feedback for you. Where should I send it?
Feedback is really important to us; as a small, independent company, feedback from our community is the best way for us to improve our service and your experience. Please email feedback@thedollcollective.co.uk with your comments.
